Experience. Strength. Hope.

Stories of Hope

There is life on the other side of rock bottom. Sometimes, hearing someone else's story helps us believe our own can change, too.

Welcome to a place for real voices, honest conversations, and the hope we find in recovery. Watch Kathy's story, explore our YouTube channel, or share a chapter of your own.

Your story does not have to be polished, and your recovery does not have to be perfect. Someone may find hope in the very chapter you thought nobody needed to hear.

My Story: Kathy Lynn Simmons

I know what it is to reach rock bottom. I also know what it is to begin again. My journey through addiction, trauma, and rebuilding my life is part of why The Other Side of Rock Bottom exists today.

I am still stumbling forward. You do not need to have every answer to take your next step.

Watch Kathy's story from the beginning. Please watch at your own pace and take a break whenever you need one.

Community Stories

This space will feature stories shared with permission after review. We welcome different pathways to recovery and stories of experience, strength, and hope.

The next story could be yours.

No perfect ending required. You might share what helped you ask for support, a lesson you are learning, or one small decision that changed your direction.

Community stories will be added here as they are reviewed and approved by their authors.

Our Christian faith is part of OSRB's story. The encouragement in 2 Corinthians 1:4 reminds us to offer others the comfort we have received. Your own beliefs and pathway are welcome here.

A conversation, at your pace

Interested in Being Interviewed?

You do not need to be a public speaker or have your whole life figured out. Tell us a little about yourself and the hope you would like to share using the form below.

Expressing interest is simply an invitation to talk. We will discuss the format, topics, boundaries, and any recording or publication plans with you first. You can decline a question, ask for a break, or decide an interview is not right for you.

Written story permission does not authorize a video interview. Separate permission is needed before an interview is recorded or published.

Private first. Permission always.

Share Your Story or Interview Interest

Share as much or as little as feels right. We are looking for your experience, strength, and hope, not a detailed account of your most painful moments.

1. Submit privately

Your story goes to OSRB for review. It does not appear on this page automatically.

2. Choose your permissions

Publishing permission and interview interest are separate and optional. Choose the public name you prefer.

3. Confirm before sharing

We confirm the final written version and your public name before posting. Interviews require a separate agreement.

We will confirm your preferred public name before publishing. Your email is never included in your story.
You do not need to describe traumatic events. Please leave out other people's identifying details.
Your choices

Nothing is posted automatically. Leaving the publishing box unchecked means your story is for private review only. We will ask before making substantive edits. You can withdraw permission for future use by emailing kathy@theothersideofrockbottom.org; copies already shared by others may not be retrievable. Interviews require a separate agreement before recording or publication.

Only submit your own story. Avoid other people's names, private information, or details you do not want the review team to receive. Please do not send medical records or identification documents. This form is for stories and interview interest, and is not monitored for urgent support.

Questions or trouble with the form? Email Kathy. Read our Privacy Policy.
