Privacy Policy

The Other Side of Rock Bottom, Inc.

Effective October 25, 2026

Your privacy matters. We understand that seeking recovery support can involve deeply personal information. This policy explains how OSRB handles information connected with our website, meetings, donations, and programs.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may receive:

  • Contact information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, or mailing address.
  • Information you provide when requesting support, volunteering, participating in a program, or contacting us.
  • Donation details made available to us by PayPal, such as donor contact information, donation amounts, and transaction records.
  • Technical information our website provider processes to operate and protect the website, such as IP addresses, browser information, and access logs.

Please share only what is necessary for your request. Avoid sending medical records, Social Security numbers, payment-card details, or other highly sensitive information through website forms or ordinary email.

How We Use Information

We use information to respond to requests, coordinate meetings and programs, communicate with people who ask to hear from us, manage donations and organizational records, improve our services, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Receiving recovery support does not require agreeing to publicity or sharing your personal story publicly.

Recovery Meetings and Confidentiality

OSRB does not record recovery meetings or use meeting transcription or AI-generated meeting notes.

Participants are expected to respect one another’s privacy and refrain from recording, taking screenshots, or sharing another person’s identity or personal disclosures outside the meeting.

However, online meetings include other participants, and OSRB cannot guarantee that everyone will follow these expectations. Please consider your comfort and privacy when choosing your display name, using your camera, or deciding what to share.

Peer recovery meetings are not a confidential clinical treatment setting. Please do not assume that meeting conversations have the same legal protections as communications with a licensed healthcare professional.

Photos, Testimonials, and Personal Stories

OSRB requires specific written permission before publicly sharing an identifiable participant’s photo, testimonial, or recovery story.

Participation in a meeting, program, or event does not by itself give OSRB permission to use your identity or story for publicity or fundraising.

You may contact us to withdraw permission for future use. We may be unable to retrieve materials already distributed or remove copies shared independently by others.

Donations and Outside Services

Online donations are processed through OSRB’s PayPal donation page. Enter payment information directly through PayPal rather than sending it to OSRB.

Our website host, email providers, Zoom, PayPal, and other services supporting OSRB operations may process information needed to provide their services. Their own privacy policies also apply.

Following a link to Facebook, another social platform, or an outside website takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

Information Sharing

OSRB does not sell or rent personal information or share participant information with research or advertising partners.

Information may be shared with authorized people and service providers as needed to carry out OSRB operations. We may also disclose information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to address a serious safety concern.

Cookies and Website Technology

Our website provider may use cookies or similar technologies to support website functions. Third-party content may also use its own technologies.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some website features.

Information Security and Retention

We take reasonable steps to protect information and limit access to people who need it for their responsibilities. No website, email system, or online service can guarantee complete security.

We retain information as needed for the purposes described here, including organizational recordkeeping and applicable legal requirements.

Your Choices and Requests

Contact us to ask about information OSRB holds about you, request a correction or deletion, stop optional communications, or raise a privacy concern.

Some records may need to be retained for legal, financial, or other legitimate organizational purposes. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Parents or guardians with concerns about information shared by a child may also contact us.

Policy Updates and Contact

We may update this policy as our programs and practices change. The effective date will appear on this page.
